WAIHI SCHOOL OF MINES.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ■WAIHI, Saturday. Tiie ordinary meeting of the Council of the School.of Mines was held last evening, Mr W. H. Johnston In the cbair. Messrs Coates (London) advised that they were collecting, and would be forwarding shortly, electrical machinery ordered by the school. The, town clerk/wrote stating that the Borough Council had granted toe application, for the annual grant of £190. The, directors' report stated that the number of! students was 76, and class attendance 141. The electrical instructor reported that Iβ new students bad enrolled this year, and that the total number of students In his department was 25. A lengthy special report was read from the director on the subject of the proposed- amendment of the system i of mine managers and battery superintend { dents' examinations. It was resolved to call a special meeting of the Council next Thursday evening for the purpose of dis- ] cussing the matter in detail. Accounts totalling £62 10/11 were passed for payment. Messrs A. H. Benge and J. H. Bank* were appointed visiting committee for the ensuing month.
