A company has just been registered in Auckland under the style of "Fletcher's Targets, Limited," to manufacture and introduce a -new miniature rifle target invented and patented by Mr. T. N. Fletcher, of Thames. It is already In use in the Auckland Training College, King's College, St. John's Collegiate- School, and several country schools, and the reports as to the excellent results in improving the marksmanship of the boys and men using it ■are more than satisfactory. One of the targets can be seen at the office of Henry Hughes, the patent agent of the Company, and Mr. E. Brooke-Smith, the secretary. A young athletic American Mr. Dravil Trawets, has arrived in Wellington from Nelson to commence a cycle ride through the North Island. He covered a thousand miles on the wheel in the South Island, and has a very ambitious cycling programme ahead of him, for he is engaged on a ride around the world for a prize of £3000, offered by the Mayor of Turin, Italy. He has to visit nearly every country in the world duringa. period of five years, and must, live entirely upon his own. resources. The most effective way he has discovered of making his expenses is_ to sell picture postcards of himself in varied surroundings. Cycling overland from Christehurclito the West Coast, he discovered that New Zealand had some of the very finest of scenery,' but that the Otira "licked creation" .for heavy rainfall. After a few days in Wellington Mr. Trawets will pedal off to Napier, thence through the heart of the North Island to Rotorua and Auckland. He still has Japan, China, America, and South Africa, on his list but has kept ahead of the schedule so well that he is quite hopeful of reaching Turin on December 27th, 1913, safe and sound, entitled to the £3000, which was original!v won by the holder for a similar exploit
