Deceased was occupied, ia the "East Coast mission in 1881-83. ' t A BAKEHOUSE GUTTED. \ «30RE, this day. f A brick bakehouse owned by J. Duncan _ and occupied by Cannon and Clark, was i gutted this morning. The stock and fittings of the latter were lost, their value ' being £60. The buildings were slightly \ damaged to the extent of £20. There were no insurances on either. AN INDECENT PICTURE. WANGANUI, this day. A young man was fined £5 in the Police Court this morning for exhibiting an indecent picture to a housemaid in a j boardinghouse. _ — _ A SEAMAN DROWNED. c . c CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. I It was reported in Lyttelton yesterday I that a sailor belonging to the schooner ' Huia had been drowned on the passage r - frorn Lyttelton to Kaipara. Inquiries s went to show that a telegram had been i received from Kaipara, stating that one t jof the seamen, named Sullivan, had been 1 I drowned, but no details regarding the 2 i fatality were to hand. Sullivan belongs < to Lyttelton, where his parents reside. 1 I The Huia left Lyttelton on Wednesday i ! last for Kaipara. I SUNDAY CONCERTS. i j DUNEDIN. Tuesday. At a meeting of the Dunedin Preaby- ' tery to-day the question of the correct- . ness or otherwise of Sunday concerts was j raised by the Rev. D. MseLennan, who | proposed, on behalf of the Sabbath Obj servance Committee, that friendly conferences be held with the representatives lof the city and suburban brass baade, I with a view, if possible, to the disconj tin nance of Sunday aiternoon concerts. i The Rev. Irwin objected to any strong protest being made. They had the ground cut away under their feet by the action of churchgoers, who used the trams on Sunday.
