* The ordinary meeting of the Devonport * Borough Council took place last night, those c present being Messrs. W. Handley (Mayor), .. W. C. Timeweil, E. J. Osborne G. Gribbin. T. Crunch, G. McKenzie, W. "h Wilding, R. H. Froude. P. W. McCallum." " Wandering Cattle. —A complaint was received i.-oncerning the actions of wandering cuttle in Morrison-avenue. The writer de- - ciared that his fences sufTered considerably through the straying of these beasts. The Z. matter was referred to the Streets Committee, and it was decided to notify the poundkeeper to exercise increased vigilance over i- the locality. j Cheltenham Beach. —Attention was drawn ' to the presence of a quantity of old barbed a wire, embedded in tbe sand at the east end of Cheltenham Beach, and its removal requested. The writer pointed out that there was considerable danger from tetanus. _ resulting from wounds received from rusty G. wire or broken glass. It was resolved to consider the (juestion of providing suitable ! receptacles at intervals on the beach to \ contain rubbish. The foreman was instructed to deal with the matter forming the subject of the complaint. The Council agreed to do all in their power to meet the request of the applicants. - " New Road. —Plans of a new rond to the raceconrse were submitted and referred to the Streets Committee and the foreman - of works for investigation and report ■*• Iron Pipes.—lt was decided to accept the tender of Messrs.
