The Autumn Meeting of the Thames Jockey Club was held on the Club's course Bt Parawai on Saturday last The weather was not very favourable, rain falling at Intervals during the afternoon,- but fortnfiately not heavy enough to altogether spoil the sport. The attendance, however, was greatly affected, very few being present from the outlying districts, but a fair number made the jonrney from Ajrcklnnd- Tiie poor attendance had a decided effect on the totalisator investments, and during the afternoon the machines, under Messrs. •Blomnefcl and Co., only handled the sum of £1564 10/, which is :i decrease of £1733 on last year's amount. Twelve bookmakers were licensed, but owfng to a dispute as to the positions allotted them by the Club, two demanded their fees back, leaving ten to call the odds. The fees from this source amounted to £55. so from a financial point of view the gathering was not asuecessful one. Dr. Barclay officiated as judge, Mr. D. Trvohlll as timekeeper, and Mr. E. Hankins as starter, the latter gentleman being particularly happy in his efforts, and his despatches in the various events were of a first-class character throughout. The racing, with the exception of the jumping events, was very interesting, the handicaps of Mr. R. Wynyard prodncing excellent results. The Hurdle Kace and Steeplechase were both fiascos, in the former only two starting. Loch Pyne and English, the latte 1- falling at the second fence, and again at the fourth, leaving Loch ■Fyne to win in a canter by abont half a mile.
