In rega rd. to the prospect of the Ninirod remaining in Lyttelton until she goes to the Antarctic region in December, the Hon. J. A. Millar states: "As far as we are concerned, I understand that New Zealand's contribution to the expedition was a voluntary grant of £ 1,000, to make up a deficiency which existed, Australia having given £4,000. So far as I am aware, there were no conditions, although we were given to understand that the vessel would be occupied during the interval between the landing of the expedition and "going back for it in doing magnetic survey work, but there was no agreement of any description in regard to'the matter. It is quite possible that this work may be continued yet, as it can neither be of benefit to the promoters or to the crew that the vessel should lie idle at Lyttelton between now and the time fixed for her return south to bring back the expedition." A hat that suits. It doesn't sound right; Fut see our selection, and you adImit they ought to suit everybody. Geo Fowlds.—(Ad.) WOLFE'S SCHNAPPS. A jrieasant tonic beverage.
