DUBLIN CASTLE JEWELS.
A CLAIRVOYANT FIASCO. LIEUTENANT SHACKIiBTOH'S BSOTB.HR. LONDON. February 17. The Vice-Regal Commission, which was appointed to inquire into the mysterious disappearance of regalia of the Orcfer of I St. Patrick.,from Dublin Castle a few ; days before "the visit of King Edward ' last year, has published the evidence, toi getter -with -the Commission's findings, in the form of a Blue Book. The evidence shows that at the. suggestion of an Italian clairvoyant, Sir Arthur Vicars, late Ulster King-of-Arms, who was responsible for the safe keeping of the jewels, fruitlessly searched the churchyards ,of Mulhuddart and Clouiiilla, hoping to find them concealed under the tombstones. Another dreamer's help also proved'useless. Sir Arthur Vicars, the report says, told Detective Kane that he suspected Mr. Shackleton, of the Dublin "Herald," implying that he, while a guest at his house, took impressions of the keys while Sir Arthur Vicars was in a bathroom. Detective Kane considera that there is no case against Mr. Shackleton, and the Commission completely exonerated him. Mr. Shackleton testified that he could easily have taken the keys had he wished to do so while Sir Ahthur Vicars was in the bathroom, and also gave numerous reasons showing that the precautions were quite insufficient to protect the jewels. Mr. Shackleton is a brother of the commander of the Antarctic expedition.
