PROBABLE CASE OF POISONING
The coroner, Mr. T. Gresham, held an inquest at the hospital yesterday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, on the body of a man named Thomas Henry LoweGriffin, who, it will be remembered, 'was found seriously ill at a boarding-house in Wynyard-street, was taken to the hospital, and died shortly after adiois* sion. ■".: William Edward Brown deposed that his wife kept the boarding-house. Deceased had been staying there for the last three weeks. At live o'clock on Monday morning he saw deceased, whb was then apparently well. Deceased was a chronic dyspeptic, and somewhat ■ eccentric in his ways. His age would be about 35 years. Mr. Griiiin had told witness that he was from Whangarei, also that he had been a reporter on the "Otago Daily Times."' Dr. Sharman deposed that in companjj with Dr. Bertram, he made a post mortem examination of the body, and removed certain organs for analysis. Several medicine bottles found in deceased's room had been sealed and handed to the police. The inquiry was then adjourned until Wednesday, 22nd inst., to allow timfor the analyist to report.
