HARBOUR BOARD.

The usual .meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday and was attended by Messrs Julian (chapman . Baume and Witheford, M.H.E. s. I hiiso . Laxon. Basley, Glover. Breakwater Road. — A request for improvements in the Breakwater road to Wyr.yard Tier by W. aid G. Winstone was referred tv the Works Coiumitt.'O. Mf Witheford adding a promise to conimuui rate with the Railway Department concerning its liability in the matter. Members expressed the opiuion that the improvements should be carried out before winter set in. Wharf Accommodation. —A complaint was received from the N.Z. Shipping Co. that several of their captains had reported that their snips when drawing 24ft had been aground at low tide, when berthed alongside the Queen street Wharf at low tide; and as a number of steamers wer° now making Auckland their final port it was necessary to provide accommodation for vessels drawing up to 30ft.-r-The Chairman said that it was some years since the berths had been dredged, and the work had been put in hand before the letter was received.

Reports.—The Works and Tariff Committee recommended that the City Council should be asked to supply water for the urinal at the ferry jetty free, and That a new w.e. should be provided: that the wages of K. Webster be raised to £3 10/ a week; aud that the engineer obtain particulars as lo hiring a suction dredger.--

This and the Finance Committee's report were adopted, as well as the routine reports.
