THE NEW LOAN.

€676,150 APPLIED FOB. RESULT VERY SATISFACTORY. Tenders for the half-million loan raised within the colony closed yesterday, and the residt is regarded as very satisfactory, the amount applied for being £676,150. The loan is part of £1,000.000 authorised by Parliament last session, to be raised under the Aid to Public Works and Land Settlement Act, 1903. The Colonial Treasurer invited tenders for £500.000 New Zealand Government 4 per cent, debentures, payable to bearer, and of the face value of £1000, £500, £200 and £100 respectively, as desired. There were no Australian tenders. We have received the following telegram from the Premier, giving the result of the tenders: '"Forty-seven tenders were received, amounting to £670,150. All under £10,----000 will be allotted in full. Considering everything the tendering is very gratifying, particularly in view of the feared disturbance between Russia and .Japan and other circumstances. —R. J. Seddon." A Press Association telegram from Dunedin states that the Premier considers the result of the tendering for the loan is very satisfactory, and that it will tend to improve the position within and outside the colony. In his opinion the most satisfactory feature is the number of subscribers.
