The racing will commence at 12 o'clock on Saturday, and the fields are likely to be good. Most of the events look open. There are 15 engaged in the Trial Handicap, in which NUMA, MISS LOTTIE, aud BRAVE HEART are a trio from which the winner may come. The Great Northern Foal Stakes may attract half a dozen runners, but Golden Lilywill not be a starter owing to influenza troubles. A good race may be looked for, and *be judge may plac- them as under:— SILKWORM. KILMARNOCK, BEAU SEATUN. Great mterest is centred in the Auckland Cup. Waiwera, Quarryman. Golden Rose. and Putty ar_ not expected to make the final payment. This will leave a dozen runners. A surprise may be lv store, as we nave seeu the case in somt previous years, but after carefully weighing the public and track form of the horses, the conclusion arrived at is that TREADMILL, IDAS, and HINETAURA will be the safest to depend upon, though should General Symons be seen right at his best he may be most troublesome of the others. In the Grafton Hurdle Race, two miles. SPALPEEN. PRINCESS OF THULE. and WAIWERA may fill the places: but Val Rosa on his best behaviour will probably be handy. Those iv the Railway Handicap iwhich looks most open I which are recommended are HOHORO. GLADSOME, and GOLDEN VEIN; Green and (Jold for an outside investment. The Nursery Handicap may fall to MUTHEMA. GLADSOME, or CONCLUSION. The Pony Cup may go to BULUWAYO. with SONOMA ae4. The Christmas Handicap may fall to ROSELLA. MARO, or MISS LOTTIE.
