There was a very good attendance at Mr J. Thornes' land sale rooms this morning, when section No. S. block xxx., Pukuatua-street, Rotorua, wa.s sold for VC..00. A section at corner of Arawastreet find Ranolf-road sold .or £130.

An enjoyable entertainment in connection with the Giafton-road Mutual Improvement Association was given last night in the Grafton-road Sclioolhall, the occasion being a. "Tennyson" evening. Mr C. Ralph read a carefully prepared paper dealing with the life and writings of Tennyson, and the interest was greatly enhanced.by a large photograph of the poet, kindly lent by Messrs bpton.and Co. f.r this occasion. The following vocal and literary gems taken from the works of the poet were rendered during the evening: "Ring Out, Wild Bells," Miss Layer; "The Brook." Miss Creamer: "Break, Break," -Miss Elva White and Mr 11. Burton; "Sweet and Low," quartette party; "Come Into the Garden, Maud," Mr Aspinall; "Crossing the Bar," Miss White; introduction to "In Mem or ia in," Mx, W. Caley; "Charge of the Light Brigade." Mr Percy Lewis; "In the Children's Hospital,*' Miss Gilmore; "The. Defence of Lucknow," Rev. J. -1. Lewis; and the "Church Warden," Mr A. Peak.
