PARNELL.
The ordinary meeting of the Paruell Council was held last night, every member being in attendance, the Mayor (Mr J, Fitt) presiding. ' *
Engineer Appointed.—On the motion of Mr Beale it was resolved that r.h° Foreman of Works be appointed the Council's engineer for the purposes of the Acts controlling the tramway business.
Gas Lamps,—The Gas Co. wrote to say that the price quoted to the Council for gag lamps was the lowest possible, being practically cost price. The company had in reality offered one additional lamp to the borough free of charge.—Received. Streets and Drains. —Several Avon street residents asked that their street should be repaired, and the matter was referred to the Streets Committee, The Foreman of Works was instructed to prepare an estimate of the cost of forming tue footpath and kerbing betweeu Ayr street and Park road. —It was resolved to inform Mr Pouctney that he was breaking the by-laws by carting over the footpath.
The Pound.—The tender of W. A. Clark to erect the borough pound for £4l and to furnish trestles at 18/ each nms accepted. This was very close on Mr Slater's estimate of £41 14/6 and 19/6.
