NEWMARKET.

The Newmarket Borough Council met last evening, His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. McColl) in the chair.

Tramway Trust Deed.—The Mayor reported that the Tramway Trust Deed Uad been signed, the Tramway Company agreeing to the conditions stipulated at the last meeting of the Council.

Sanitation.—The Town Clerk announced that the present night soil contract would terminate in August. The contractors wrote suggesting that instead of renewing the contract for three years, the contract be continued at the present rate, six mouths' notice on either side to terminate the contract. The matter was referred to the Sanitary Committee.

Infectious Disease.—The District Health Oftcer reported a case of scarlet fever ia Glasgow terrace.
