GREY LYNN.

The Grey Lynn Council met last nlfflit, the Mayor (Mr J. W. Shaekelford) presiding.

Applications for lumps, Great Nartaroad, and Crumuier-ruad, were deferred until the Council's finances were in a position to enable lamps to be allocated to the various wards. A number of applications for repairs to footpaths and. roadways were referred to the Streets Committee A letter was read from the Auckland Electric Company, re depositing ailt scraped from the tram line on the Great Nortliroad, stating that there was no provision in the deed of delegation for keeping the company's section of the road clean. The Council decided to reply that it would not permit of the sile being deposited on the road.

Dr. Makgill wrote that Mr A. deal's stable was too near a dwelling at. the eoruer of Ponsonby-road. As Mr CleaJ, the occupant, was looking for a new site for a stable, it was derided to urge him to move the building as soon as possible. Further action was deferred for a fortnight. Mr T. Cotter wrote re the refuse tip "at Richmond, giving his opinion that the Council could take proceedings if a nuisance existed. It was decided to draw the attention of the Health Department to the matter, with a view to getting steps taken to have the tip abolished.

Mr McDerinott, sanitary contractor wrote agreeing to pay the penalty inflicted by the Council for nonfultilinent of contract, provided he was allowed to continue the present service for another six months the money to be deducted in three instalments. On the motion of the Mayor, the suggestion was agreed to.

The Town Clerk, Auckland, wrote forwarding amended plans for a culvert and roadway 30ft wide across Cox's Creek, to replace the present bridge. The estimated cost was £850. The Mayor, Chairman of the Streets Committee, Mr Parrell, and the Richmond Ward members were appointed a committee to wait upon the City Engineer and get fuller details. Mr Farrell advocated the road being filled to its permanent level, even if It was not done to Its full width at present.

Accounts totalling £444 10/4 were passed for payment.

The Mayor moved, "That the members of the different wards be requested to report on the most urgent work they recommend to be carried out under the present loan proposals." This was seconded by Mr Dumper and agreed to.
