CHRISTCHURCH, this day.

The opening matches of the season on Saturday, were played in excellent, weather, and the football throughout was taivly interesting. Throe senior matches wire decided at Lancaster Park, whore th.!re was a good attendance, the sum of £27 9/ being taken at tlie gates. Chief interest centred in tne meeting of Cliristeburch and Linwood, and a fast game resulted iii a win lor the loUner l.y 9 points t<> nil. Sydenham had all the best oi' the '{-amo against Merlvale, winning by 12 points to nil. The third game was very oven all through, the Boys' High School Old Boys beating Cantefbruy College by a try to 'nothing. The fourth senior mutch was played at Lyttelton, where the.A.nlou team had little difficulty in defeating; the local reps.
