TALISMAN CONSOLIDATED, LTD.
Messrs Bewick, Moreing a-nd Co., the general managers of this company, report as follows: —Development for the past few months has been confined to levels Nos. 6, 8 and 10. The works in progress are the extension of these levels and the sinking of two winzes between levels Nos. 8 and 10. No. 6 level is bedng pushed ahead to open up the Dubbo section of the mine, and connection with upper workings will probably be completed before the end of the year. Levels Nos. 8 and 10 are now some 200 ft from the Talisman-Woodstock boundary, and have proved the existence of a practically continuous run of payable ore from that boundary to present faces, where the ore continues to be of a most favourable character.. These levels are both below the workings which supplied ore up to the iliscontinuance of milling operations, and give an extent of some 500 vertical feet of what is practically d new mine. The first of the two winzes referred to above bas connected levels Nos. 7 and 8, and intermediate levels north and south, »t a point midway between the two levels, are now in course of progress. The> second winze will be completed within the next few weeks, and similar intermediate levels will be commenced therefrom. A winze to connect levels Nos. 8 and 10 has 'been comaneiniced., and when finished will serve as a hoisting shaft for raising ore beIcw No. 8 level. Numerous minor alterations 'have been effected at the HjSII with a view to increase the monthly output, and the management has every hope of resuming permanent milling operations to--wards the end of October.
