VOLUNTEER NOTES.
KAIHU RIFLE CLUB
A very successful practice match was held by members of the Kaihu Rifle Club at their range on Saturday afternoon last. There was a good muster of members and friends, but the weather .was not favourable for high scores, as the light was poor and the wind blowing in strong gusts. The ranges were 200 yds, 300 yds, and 400 yds. Some of the members arrived late and fired only at the second and third distances. Mr G. Lineham put up top score of those who competed at all three ranges, his total being 43 points. Messrs W. Shaw and A. Trayes were the next beet with 38 and 32 respectively. Of those who came late Mr Watkins headed the list with 19 to his credit. The small target was used at the 400 yds range, and considering this the shooting was very satisfactory for beginners.
