GISBORNE, this day.
The Poverty Bay Eugby Union decided to abandon their Auckland fixture owing to insufficient guarantee. The brigantine Aratapu arrived today, after a twenty days' passage from Newcastle, ten of which were spent travelling from East Cape to Gisborne.
A Second trawler has arrived here to sxipply the local market.
The Agricultural and Pastoral Society has appointed the following judges for their October show:— Light horses, Mr Hocken, of Feilding; sheep, Mr J. Williams, of Hawke's Bay; cattle and draught horses, Mr A. McLean, of Maraekakaho.
The Poultry Fanciers' Club has received over 300 entries for their show •which takes place this week.
