The funeral of the late Mr. Frederick Ayres, sub-inspector at Welling^ ton of the Bank of Australasia, who met his death by the fire at the Grand Hotel, Auckland, on May 31, took place at Wavcrley, Sydney, on Sunday, June 16, in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. The cortege left the residence of Mrs. Henry Ayres, No, 3, Warrane Terrace, Moncur-street, Woollahra, about 3 o'clock, and proceeded to St. Matthias.' Church, Ox:ford-s t.roet, Paddington, where a short service was conducted by the Rkv. ,!. W, Gfflet, afterwords viMidK'l Us way to Waverley.
