MESSAGES OF SYMPATHY.

In reply to the resolution of the

City Council, passed on Thursday last, expressing the deep sorrow of the citizens at the death of Queen Victoria, the Mayor has received the following reply from the Hon. C. HillTrevor, A.D.C. to the Governor: '"The Governor begs to acknowledge receipt of the Mayor's telegram on behalf of the Council and citizens of Auckland, and he will have pleasure in communicating the same to the Secretary of State for the Colonies."

The following telegram has been received from the Governor in answer to one sent by the N.Z. .Natives' Association:—"The Governor begs to thank the Xew Zealand and Australian Natives for their kind expression of sympathy. He will convey ihe same' to the" Royal Family.—(Signed) C. Hill Trevor. "
