THE OPERA HOUSE.
'A EOYAL DIVOECE" TO-NIGHT.
Another excellent performance of the stirring play, "Tess of the d'Urbervilles," was given in the Opera House on Saturday night by the Crane-Power Dramatic Company, and the audience were thoroughly pleased with the acting and staging of the piece, and particularly pleased with Miss Edith Crane as Tess. "A EOYAL DIVORCE." This evening Mr J. C. Williamson's company will produce Wills' wellknown play "A Uoyal Divorce," which has created such a remarkable impression each time of its presentation throughout New Zealand. It is nearly two years since its last appearance in Auckland, and even though many may have seen it before, the present production will appear qiijte fresh again, as the caste is an entirely new one- The success of this drama has been most pronounced everywhere. Miss Edith Crane is the Empress Josephine, a character that should suit her admirably; Mr Cecil Ward's performance of Napoleon has been criticised most favourably everywhere, and the same may be said of Mr Tyrone- Power's De Beaumont. Miss Lillian Wheeler appears as Empress Louise; Miss Eose Musgrove as Stephanie de Beauharnais; and other characters are represented by Messrs Arthur Lissant, C. Keightley, Oily Deering, H. Hill, J. W. Hazlitt W F. Grant, etc., etc., and Misses Hettie Muret, A. Vaughan, J. Merton, and the entire strength of the company. The scenic effects will include the striking tableaux "The Retreat from Moscow "The Battle of. Waterloo," and Alone ni it Helena-" Two otter features S this nUetion will be the baUe S^ ec^lyTS y ed« Wednesday evening.
