A WREATH FROM AUCKLAND.
The suggestion made by a correspondent in our columns on Saturday, that the women of Auckland should collectively pay their tribute to the memory of one of the greatest of their sex, has met with the general approval we anticipated. His Worship the -Mayor, Mr David Ooklie, has authorised a committee of twe.ve to receive subscriptions from the women cf this city for the purpose of sending a memorial wreath on the day of the Queen's funeral. The idea is to cable the money to the Agent-General, who will purchase the wreath in London and have it sent from the women of Auckland as a token of the veneration felt for the dead Queen. Stands for receiving subscriptions will be fixed to-morrow in front of the General Post Office, the P.S.C. buildings, and Messrs Milne ac.d Choree's establishment. The committee will be in attendance the whole day. We have to acknowledge the following subscriptions received at this oti'ee: — Mrs Eees, 2/6; M.J., C. L., H.T., G.K., 4/.
