CHURCH PARADE.
The whole of the volunteer corps ot^ the Auckland garrison attended the; memorial services at thfe various city: churches yesterday. Lieut-Colonel. White was in command, and the inus-* . ter numbered about 300. Both officer S) and men wore the regulation mourning. The parade was divided into de-| tachments, which were marched to St., Taul's, St. Benedict's, St. Andrew's, St. Matthew's, the Tabernacle, and ritt-street Wesleyan Church. j CHANGES IN THE PKAYEIt BOOK. The changes in the Church of Eng-| land prayer, necessitated by the death; of the Queen and the succession o\ King Edward, were put into force for the first time yesterday morning throughout the Anglican Churches in the province. It came as a shock to^ many people who have been accustom-^ ed to pray for our' Most Gracious Sovereign Lady, Queen Victoria eve, since they can remember, :o find the words changed to "our Sovereign Lord. King Edward." Among other altera-, tions -were the introduction of "our Gracious Queen Alexandra," and the changing of "Albert Edward to "George." . In accordance with the Primate s m-| structions, the "Dead March" was played at the beginning of eactt ser-j vice Then followed the majestically sad verse from the burial service:"We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord." In the morning service the first collect of the burial service was used, while the xc. Psalm, "Lord, Thou hast been our refuge from onegeneration to another," was specially sung. Special lessons were also prescribed for both services. In the evening the opening sentence from the burial service, "I heard a voice fromheaven, and the second collect from the same service were used. •.... j
