A large number of residents of the. Grey Lynn borough gathered in front of the Borough Council Chambers

shortly after noon to-day, when Mr. R. T. VV'nrnock, .Mayor of tiio borough, read the Royal Proclamation as received by wire from Wellington. Immediately after reading the proclamation hearty cheers were given for the new King. Add New King Immediately after the ceremony at the Municipal Chambers to-day a message announcing the fact and giving a brief account of it was sent away by pigeon to the Great Harrier island. Birds were placed at the Mayor's disposal for that purpose by Mr S. H. Howie, of the Great Barrier Pigeongram service.
