THE MAORI COUNCILS ACT

AUCKLAND DISTRICTS

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

WELLINGTON, this day. The following districts are proclaimed under the Maori Councils Act passed last session:— Monjyonui District: Hounded towards the north-east by the ocean from the North Cape to the U'airakau River to Whangaroa Harbour to north-east corner of the Mangatairairi block; thence to the south and western boundary of the Mangonui survey district; I hence by the southern boundary to Stony or Parupukapuka stream to Tolara parish. Wainui River to southern boundary of Maungatninoha district to the mouth of Mohiroa River, Herekino Harbour, and to the point of commencement.

The Hokianga District: The Uokianga district, and Takerau districts are, as their names indicate, north oC Auckland. Other Districts: The others are (he Whangarei district and Walroa district adjacent and the Ngatiwhatuu. district. The last is defined as follows:—Bounded towards the north-west generally by the Walroa district hereinbefore described from the ocean to the Mangonui River; thenco towards the north-east generally by the K'hangarei district, hereinbefore described to the ocean at Bream Tail; thence towards the east generally by the ocean to Tamaki bridge at Panmure; thence towards the youth-east generally by a right line to St. Ann's bridge on the Great South Road; thenco by the waters of Manukau Harbour to Marmkau Heads; and thence towards the south-west by the ocean to the place of commencement, including the Great Barrier Island.

There are throe other districts—rlamoly the Tnmatea (Hawke's Bay) and Tongariro (Rongokako), ..extending from Ruahjne range to Cape Turakirae to the Orongorongo River and summits of the Rimuraka and Tararna ranges to Manawatu Gorge. The Raukawa district is situated between the Kurahaupo, Manawatu Gorge, and Rongokako districts.
