THE AUCKLAND DISTRICT

Tlie plans, descrlptiou of districts, and regulations under the Maori Lands Administration Act and the Maori Councils Act of last session of Parliament have been prepared and are only delayed by the fact that the printers at the Government Printing Oiiice are enjoying a holiday. The information will be gazetted early next month. Meanwhile, i am indebted to the Hon. J. G. Ward for a copy of the Order-iu-Council and the boundaries of the districts under both Acts. L'nder the fifth, section of the Maori Lauds Administration Act it was enacted that for the purposes of the Act there shall be within the North Island of New ZeaJand not less than six Maori districts, the boundaries and names Of such districts to be defined by the Go-veruor-in-Council. lai pursuance of these powers the boundaries are set out. The district of Tokerau, iv which the people of Auckland have'ihe most interest', is defined as follows:—AH that area in the colony of New Sieuianu bounded towards the uiorthenst generally by the sea from North (Jape to Taiuaki Hive;1, thence inwards the southpast by the Taiuaki Hiver and Otahuhu Creek to the Portage Itoad; thence towards the south by the said PoraijfU Uoail to Manukau harbour; thence by the said Manuikau harbour' to the sea: thence towards the south-west generally by the sea to Cape Maria Van Dieiuen, and Inwards the north by the sea to. North Cape, the place of coininc.'iceiiieiit. including Great Barrier Island ami the islands adjacent to the coast line becweeu Whangaiei harbour and North Cape.
The Wairaki district is bounded rut the north by the Hay of Plenty and the WullJ,';l[laraou, Ahoiuatariki, Waii'on.uouial, Aliiuparua, Mnnjjaptirulil, lliHiokama, '!">■ Kuml: theitee along the boundary line between the Auckland district ni:d Hawke's Hay fo the northern corner of the Mmuiigiitaiuloha block, ilaiigiipopai survey district.to Uungi-
