THE CAMP AT CHRISTCHURCH.

CHRISTCHURCH. Monday. . Work is going on steadily in the Fifth Contingent camp at Addington. It is understood that as soon as the steamship Waimate is ready, the liresent camp will be struck, and the men and horses transferred to Wellington. Thursday is assigned as the probable date of departure from Lyttelton.
Gangs of men have been working day and night without intermission in discharging the cargo of the Waimate, and in clearing out her ballast tanks, so as to fit her for purposes of transport. The men of the contingent, who are to proceed to South Africa in her, will be accommodated in the after 'tween decks, and Mr Lewington, tbe foreman carpenter to the New Zealand Shipping Company, has in hand the task of fitting up their quartersIt is expected that Mr J. Darnells will supervise the fitting up of the horse stalls.
