PARNELL.

The fortnightly meeting of the Parnell Borough Council was held last evening, there being- present: The Mayor (Mr H. Campbell, Crs. Friend, Gilmour, Petford, Fitts, Briggs and McCabe.

Clifton Road.—Mr F. Smith wrote calling attention to the dangerous state of the footpath at the corner of Glanville Terrace and Clifton Road. — The matter was referred to the Streets Committee to report. Contagious Disease.—Dr. Cr. P. Baldwin, health officer, .reported a case of enteric fever in Gibraltar Crescenr.

Charitable Aid Rate.—At the request of the Charitable Aid Board it was decided to pay the balance of the Parnell Borough's contribution, £219 1/6.

Drainage.—The following lenders were received for the second contract in connection with the Borough drainage scheme: Samuel White and Sons, £1419 7/; G. Knight, £ir!00; Ferguson and Malcolm, £2138 .1/2.—The tenders were referred to the Engineer to report upon.

Sanitary Measures.—Attention was drawn to the fact that the Council decided at its last meeting to have the drains disinfected, but this had not yet been done. As the Foreman of Works had not time to attend to the matter it was decided to engage extra labour till the work was carried out.
