A young man named Walter Watson was engaged in repairing the under part of a carriage at the Government railway station at Thorndon to-day when it was struck lightly by another carriage in the process of shunting. One of the wheels of the carriage on which Watson was working passed over the young man's thigh, crushing it in a frightful manner. He was conveyed to the hospital, where he now lies in a critical stat«.
