Further confirmation of the fast nature of the Riccarton track was this morning provided in several gallops. Clenogle ran a mile and a-quarter in 2. V.M. Explosion, assisted the last half a mile by Beddington, covered a mile anil a-hiilf in 2.42! Malatua, assisted by Peerage and The Weaver, took a second and a-half less. Blazer ran half a mile in tiUsec from a flying start. Dundas and Benzoin ran the same distance in 50see. from a standing start. Seahorse. Tati'hei. and The Labourer did a good working gallop over a mile, the time being 1.47-1. Castashore ran a mile and a-quarter, Hie last mile being traversed in 1.46. Pitch and Toss and Cherrystone ran six furlongs in 1.20. A large number of horses worked, including Httku and Double Event.
The latest arrivals are Uhlan, Oko aii and Battleaxe.
