Captain Allman has been appointed master of the steamer Te Kapu, which is going into the Sounds trade. •Provided npthirig occurs to cause a relapse, Sapper Head's recovery is believed to be now assured. The first instance here of a pensioner being up for drunkenness came before the Court to-day. The offender, besides a fine of 5/, had three months pension deducted.: - 648 new names have been put on the municipal roll this week, of which 413 were residential claims. The roll now contains 6,792 names.
CHRISTCHURCH, this day,
Walter Dillamore, 49 years old, died suddenly at Stoekburn last night. He had su't'ered for 14 years. It is thought the cause was pleurisy.
