SOUTHERN CROSS GALVANISED •IRON COMPANY. One of the important industries reprosenied in the. fourth court in the Auckland Exhibition is that of the Southern Cross Galvanised Iron Manufacturing Company (Limited), of which Mr Samuel I'arker is the manager, and which has its office and show-rooms in Wellesley-street West, and its works at Mechanics' Bay. The company has a large area of space in the court, and has a splendid display showing' the variety of its manufactures. Corrugated and galvanised iron rooting, ridging, spouting, tanks, buckets, trunks, tubs, etc., are shown in large quantities, and the general opinion of those who have seen the exhibit is that it is a splendid one and a credit to Mr Parker and the company. The company have gained first prizes for their exhibits, and well deserve them. The business in galvanising roofing iro7i was established here by Mr Parker in 18S6, and the concern was formed into a limited liability company in 1894. The present output is from 4 to 5 tons of galvanised iron per day. The 'Southern Cross Brand' of galvanised iron is recognised as being in every particular equal to the best English manufacture, and is used on all the railway and public works. The celebrated 'acme' rooting nail is one of the features of tho company's manufacture, and another special branch is the manufacture of buckets and tubs, those shown being of excellent workmanship. A i specialty on show is a patent gal- ! vanised iron fencing batten for keeping fencing wires the proper distance apart, thus making them sheep-proof. Japanned travelling trunks etc., are ! shown, and one item on view—a lady's ! cylindrical travelling ease= —is a very 'useful article. The roofing iron, spouting, etc.. are all of the best, and there is a variety of useful articles in galvanised iron well worth inspection.
