Drunkenness. — A first offender was liberated on payment of 2s 6d cab hire. Adjourned.—A charge against Mary Howe for obstructing Detective Kennedy in the execution of his duty was adjourned until to-morrow.—Margaret Bracelin was charged with being a common prostitute, and behaving in a disorderly manner in Queen-street. —Adjourned until to-morrow. —A charge preferred against Samuel Courtney of assaulting John Halloran and using: obscene language was adjoured until Monday.—Dr. Laishley appeared for defendants in each case. '■'■'}■ School Attendance Act. —Harriett Wrack was fined 4s for a breach of the School Attendance Act, 1594. Mr J. S. Small, Truant Officer, prosecuted. . ..- Alleged Stabbing.—Chas. Boden was charged that on 14tli September, at Auckland, he did wound Joseph Thompson, by stabbing him in the back with a knifes© as to cause him actual bodily harm.—Accused was defended by Mr Williamson.—Thompson, who is a carpenter, deposed that the accused attacked him with' a knife and stabbed him behind the left shoulder on the night in question, in Alexandra-street. Witness gave him no provocation. Crossexamined : Did not know why the accused stabbed him. Witness did not rob Boden. —To the Court: Witness was not sober, nor yet drunk.—Dr. Hooper gave evidence as to Thompson's wound, stating that it - was two inches deep. He thought the man was out of danger now. A knife such as the one produced (a stout pocket-knife) would cause the wound.—The further hearing of the case was adjourned till Tuesday next. . ,','',
