LADIES' ORCHESTRAL CONCERT.

The Young Ladies' Orchestral Society, under the conductorship of Miss Florence Thorp, gave an enjoyable concert last evening in the Choral Hall, which was fairly well patronised. The soloists all did well, Madame Chambers, Miss Ettie Myers and the Key. A. Mitchell being deservedly encored each time they appeared. "Alia Stella Confidente" was sung by Madame Chambers in a style that further demon/ strated her great capabilities as a vocalist. The effect of the piece was also heightened by the 'cello obligato played by Miss Taylor. As an encore item Madame Chambers sang "Fetters of Gold," and later in the evening this lady was equally successful in the "Flower Song." The Rev. A. Mitchell contributed two line songs, "Jerusalem" and "The Desert" in admirable style, and in response to unmistakable encores favoured the audience with "The Steersman" and " The fogbell," bot,h of which numbers were well appreciated. Miss Ettie Myers displayed brilliant powers of execution in performing on the pianoforte a presto movement from G minor concerto by Mendelssohn. So pleased were those present that Miss Myers was encored. Messrs M. Trenwitli, A. Mewburn, A. Rogerson and W. George contributed the glees "Two Roses," "Sweet Creature," "Allan Water," and " Good Night" with their accustomed ability, and were as usual encored each time they appeared. Misses Stevenson, Rice, S. Rice and E. Myers played an instrumental quartette by Langer entitled " Groszmutterchen." The items' contributed by the orchestra were all well received. Two from Symphony V. (Haydn) were nicely played and well appreciated. Selections from " Henry VIII." (Sullivan) were also well played, with the exception of a little unsteadiness in the cornet lead. The final number was " The Imps' Revels " (Bonheur).
