CYCLING CARNIVAL AT WANGANUI.

The principal local attraction yesterday was the big Cycling Carnival of the Wang-anui West Coast Club. There was a large attendance and splendid sport, and competitors from all the principal centres of the colony between Auckland and Christehureh. Large fields were the order of the day. The principal results are : — . Maiden 2 Miles.—Cooper (Auckland) 1; Grace (Manawatu) 2 ;. Cheer (Hastings) 3. ' "Grand Cycle Handicap, 1 Mile.— Barker (Christchurch) 1 ; Hendry (Auckland) "2";" Gardener "(Wellington)
Five Miles.—W. Tierney (Auckland) 1 ; W. Stackwood (Wang-anui) 2 ; R. M. Pennefather (Wairarapa) 3. Three Miles.—Barker 1 ; Humphries 2 ; Hendry 3. Half-mile Dash Handicap.—Genge 1 ; Stobic 2 ; Hendry 3.
Club and Maiden Handicap, 1 Mile.—■ E. J. Ritchie (Wanganui) 1 ; J. Stobic (Wanganui) 2 ; W. Grace (Manawatu) 3. Three Miles.—E. J. Ritchie (Wanganui) 1 ; Stackwood 2 ; G. Campbell 3. Two Miles.—Bennett (Danevirke) 1; Campbell 2 ; Scannell 3. First Class Scratch Race, Two Miles. —Barker 1 ; Hendry 2 ; McDowell 3.
Second Class Scratch Eace, 2 Miles. —Gardener 1 ; Ritchie 2 ; Tierney 3. Barker (Christchurch) .won the points prize, -with Tierney (Auckland) next. Eitcchie was the best of the local riders.
