DEATH OF PROFESSOR PARKER.

Dr. Thomas Jeffrey Parker, Professor of Biology at Otago University, died at Warrington on Sunday morning from diabetes. He was 74 years of age. He received the degree of Doctor of Science from his alma mater in 1592, the regulation being relaxed so that he had not to proceed to England to get it. In conjunction with Dr. Haswell, of Sydney University, he has been for the past few years engaged on a compendious work in zoology, the last proof sheets leaving his hands a few weeks before death. Those who have seen the work believe it will remove the reproach that English text books were translations from the German.
