HAWKE'S BAY J.C. SPRING MEETING.
HASTINGS TRAINING NOTES.

Napier, this day. Heavy ro,in lias fallen since Sunday, and has greatly interfered with training operations as Hastings. This morning Popgun went three times round steady, followed by Drury Lane, who covered four circuits at good half pace, moving freely. Harmony did three rounds at half pace. Mairua performed half and three-quarter pace work. Maid Marion, Forest Rose, Moonraker and Nukurau were allotted slow work.
A Press Association telegram states that Wait-a-Bit has been scratched for the CaulJield Cup. James Young, the jockey who was injured at the recent Amberley Steeplechase, died in the Christchurch hospital last evening. The tender of Mr W. Blomfield for working the totalisators at the Thames Jockey Club Meeting has been accepted.
