A PHOTOGRAPH FORGERY.
Another fraud by means of a forged note I on the Bank of 'New South Wales was brought under the notice of the Sydney police lately,. A well-dressed stranger called at a small goods shop kept by Mrs Mary Rofe, in Surry Hills, and tendered a note, ostensibly fo'ri;i, in exchange for a cake of tobacco. Mrs Rofe accented the document, and gave 19s Gd in silver change. The note afterwards passed into other hands, and was found to be valueless. There is no question that the fraud was perpetrated by the same individual who defrauded a shop-keeper named Adelaide Minehan in the same locality, and by the same method, about a week ago. The two notes had been produced by a photosrraphie operation, and bear the same number. One is a shade darker than the. other, but this would be accounted for by the length of exposure. Shopkeepers dealing in such goods should take warning. The fraud is always worked in the same class of establishment.
