RAILWAY ACCIDENT AT KATOOMBA.
.'V serious railway accident took place at Katoomba on Monday morning on the railway line at a point about three-quarters of a mile west of Katoomba station. A cow had strayed on to the line, and was evidently walking along the embankment at the above-mentioned point, when it was run into by a mixed goods train. The result of the impact was that several of the trucks were overturned and rolled down the embankment a considerable distance, damaging them and their contents very seriously. The passengers of the night down mail and the "fish" train were transhipped into trains sent from Penrith, which, through their speedy arrival, resulted in' very slight delay to travellers. The goods and trucks were recovered by the aid of Penrith and Sydney gangs of maintenance men.
