The director of the School of Mines reports on a parcel of stone, the product of a leader in the above property, submibted by Mr F. Homo, aa follows :—" The ore consisted of a black band a few inches wide, and contained a good deal of rusty coloured rubble and a little clay pug. It was dried, dry crushed, sampled and assayed es follows :—Gold, 2oz Odwt Bgr pet ton; silver, 17dwb 15gr per ton; value £8 2s lOd per ton. On pan amalgamation 1,9001b of tho dry crushed ore yielded 2oz 3dwb Of melted bullion worth £2 16s 8d per oz, and representing a saving per ton of £7 3s Bd. This is equivalent to a percentage saving of 88*5 per cent, of the gold, 85*9 per cent, of bhe silver, 88*2 per cent, of the value of the ore. __ Gold occurs in fairly coarse particles, and is well adapted bo amalgamation.
