INCIPIENT FIRES.
An incipienb fire waa discovered at four o'clock tins morning on the premises of Mr Albert Lee, grocer, Manukau'Road, Newmarket. The Newmarket fireball gave the alarm. The only damage done was the burning of a portion of a fence. Conststble Lamb was preaent, and discovered that the fire was caused from ashes put oh a rubbish heap. Mr Lee's son,' 11 years of age, discovered tbo fire through a reflection on his bedroom window, and woke up his father.
A seven roomed house ab Beach Road, Devonport, tenanted byMrW.C. Wood house, ledirer-keeper at the Bank of New Zealand, was slightly damaged by fire yesterday morning. Damago to the extent of £5 was done. The fire originated in a packing case filled with straw 'it the basement of the dwelling-house. Mr Woodhouse discovered the fire, being awakened by finding smoke in his room. The fire was put put by Mr Woodhouse, assisted- by neighbours.
