YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING,

The annual meeting of the Auckland Young Women's Christian Association was held last evening ab the V.M.C.A. Buildings in Wellesley-streeb. In the absence of Mrs, Scotb West, who is at present on a vieit to Scotland, Mrs Kenderdine took the chair. The report for the past year showed that the advantages which the Association was affording in the way of providing magazines, books and papers, and also luncheon rooms for young men and women were being largely appreciated, and the daily attendance was greatly improving. Miss Newcombe had resumed the instruction of the Sunday afternoon Bible Class, and it was expected much good would result. The Monday evening Bible study* "tßh?a <i prayer meeting was a centre of true spiritual life. For the present the Rev. Soott West woe taking the Bible reading on Friday afternoon, and there were aIBO other Bible classes being etttl maintained with the exception of Mount Albert; The report also showed that there were now 184 members on the roll which was a net increase of 30 on last year. At a recent meeting of the Committee * it was agreed to allow half the work done at the monthly sewing meetings, and any contributions from members and friends should go towards the support of the Niger Mission, in memory of Bishop and Mrs Hill. A registry for procuring employment for women was kept, and during the year a flower mission had been taken up. A pleasant meeting had been held as a farewell to Mrs Scott West (President), and Mrs Major (Vice-president who had gone on a visit to the Old Country for the sake of their health. The Balancesheet ehowed that the receipts for the year were £295 11s sd, expenditure £291 2s Bd, leaving a balancein hand of £4 8s 9d. The election of officers for the ensuing year was then proceeded with and resulted in the old officers being reelected, the following members being added to the Committee: — Misses Carnie, Burton and Mesdames Wigmore and Houston. Mrs Kehderdino was elected to fill the position of President during the absence of Mrs Scott West. Interesting addresses were subsequently given by a number of the ladies present, in which the deaths of Bishop and Mrs Hill were feelingly referred to. In the intervals songs were contributed by Mr J. Stewart, " Light and Darkness" and Misses Whitolawand Peacock "The Better Land."
