THAMES DRAINAGE BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of tho Thames Drainage Board was held in the Secretary's 'Mr D. G. McDonnell) office in tho Insurance Buildings this morning, when thoro trere present, Messrs Kissling (Chairman), Clark, Spratt, Porter, JDickey, Wilson, Comor and Paltridgo

Finance.—The statemont of finance for the month ending Ist October, '013. showed the receipts to bo £815 12s Bd, including a balance brought forward of £591 15s 2d : and the expenditure £145 2s, leaving a credit balance of £670 10s Bd. Tho liabilities amounted to £463 14s 2d ancl tho asset. £936 0a 4d.

Report.—Tho manager reported that during tho month the machinery had been working well, and was in good ordor ab present. The water speed was now a little over 4 strokes per minute. A bucket had been changed, and bwo boilers had beon cleaned. After a trial ho had found that Ngunguru coal burnod bettor than the Kamo article, bub nob so cheaply. The working expenses of the month had been £210. There were 254 tons coal in Btock.

Rebate. —It was decided to rebate 25 per cent, of this month's drainage, contribution, to be allowed on tho samo terms as formerly.

Fire Brigade.—An application from the Thames Fire Brigade for a subscription of £1 ls wa9 complied with.

Queen of Beauty Mine.—On tho motion of Mr Porter, it was decided to defer bhe consideration of the drainage contribution, by tho Queen ot Beauty Mine until the next meeting. May Queen Company.—An application from tho May Queen G.M. Company for a reduction of £10 for extra cosb of drainage of 430 ib was complied with. It was further resolved thab in the event of the Company requiring the Board to drain tho 500fb level, the Chairman should bo authorised to carry out such a request provided the Company consonted to pay tho oxtra cost of fuol and labour.
