THE COMING ELECTION

Mr Worth writes to uaas follows :—"Sir I notice in your report, and in thab of your morning conbemporary,bhat I am Bpoken of as seconding Mr R-.es's nominabion in my capacity aa Presidenb of tho Trade and Labour Council. This ia nob the case, I merely signed his nomination paper in my capacity as an individual elector. I advised tho memoers of the Council to use their own judgmenb in tbe presenb election, with respect to the candidates thoy supporb, and I regrcb bhab my consenb to nominate Mr Rees should have boen used for electioneering purposes bo misrepresenb bho attitude of bhe Council bowards the presonb contest. I am also advertised to tako the chair at Mr Rees' meeting in St. James' Hall, a President of bho Trade and Labour Council. Having given no aubhorisabion for the uso of my office in this connection, 1 deom it ex pedienb, in ordor bo provonb misunderstanding, to decline to take bho chair on the occasion.—l am, etc., W. H. Mr A. J. Cadman was nominated to-day for eloction as a representative for tho vacant Auckland constituency, the nomination paper being lodged with bhe Returning Officer this morning. Mr Cadman wa3 nomiuated by Mr J. J. Holland and Mr Leighton, To-day being bho last day of nominabion, no other nominations ivero received, nnd tho contest accordingly lies between Messrs Cudman and Rees, Tho election takes place on the 4th prox., noxt Friday woek. Last evening a largely attended and enthusiastic meecing of the supporters of Mr Cadman waa held in St. Sepulchre's Schoolroom, Symonds-street. There wore ovor sixty persona present, and out of these a local committeo was appointed to advance Mr Cadman's candidature.

Mr Cadman was present and addressed tho meeting. Some business in connection with the electoral roll for the city and other mabterß were dealt with.

A mooting of Mr Cadman's supporters will be held bhis evening in bhe Ponsonby Hall in order to ..ppoinb a local Committee.

Mr W. L. Raes will address a public meeting of electors at Sb. Sepulchre's Schoolroom on Thursday ab Bp.m. and abSb. James' Hall on Friday evening nexb, whon he will reply to the strictures passed on him in reference to the East Coasb Land Company, the Native Land Laws Commission and other mutters.

The supplementary roll for tho Auckland City electoral district was nob quibe completed this morning, bub was expected to be issued this afternoon or to-morrow morning.
