LATE SPORTING.
AVONDALE RACES.
There is a poor attendance ab the Avondale Races, which ate proceeding this afternoon. The course is heavy from the tain that fell. Messrs Bollard and Garrett occupy the judges' box, and Mr George Cutta is starter. The Waikomiti Brass Band, under W. Levy, is discoursing a choice mnsical programme.
Handicap Hukdles of 50?ovs, 2 miles.— Ika Vuka, 1 ; Tattler, 2; New Year, 3. Also started : Rangitiri. Marechal Neil was scratched. Won by two or three lengths. Dividends, £2 7a. £1 tickets.
Maiden Plate Handicap, of 3030vs ; one milo.—Transib, 1; Caprice, 2; Vivat, 3. Also started : Maid of Honour and Ohinewai. Acacia was scratched, having previously won an advertised race for the value of 25?ovs. Transit won by half-a-length. Time, lmin so3ec, Dividend, £2 3s; 10s tickets.
