Stealing an Overcoat.—Thomas Scotfe pleaded guilty to the charge of having sbolen an overcoab, value £1, the property of Ambrose Howell.—Henry McMurray was also charged wibh being concerned in the above offence.—Mr C. E. Matthews appeared for the defendant, and pleaded hob guilty.-— Evidence was given by Ambrose Howell to having missed his overcoat from a stable in Elliobb-sbreeb, and by John Olsen thab McMurray pawned ib ab hie shop in the name.. of Allen.—Detective Hughes deposed to making the arrest.—Defendanb sbabed bhat bhe coat was given to him to pawn by the prisoner.—The Bench said thab petty larcenies were now getting so frequent that it) was necessary thab an example should be made. Fach prisoner was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. with hard labour. Scotb was also fined' 20.,' or 48 hours, for drunkonness. Stray Animals.—Abraham Decon and William McKenzie were each fined Is and costs for allowing cows to stray ab Devonporb.
