The writer sbrenuously denies that the "Post" haa ever concealed facbs regarding bhe prevalence of byphoid fever, and adds : "If bha Stab were half as oubsJpoken as bo tbe festering social sores of Auckland as we have been regarding the sanitary condition of Wellington, ib would tend bo bha moral, socit.l and physical improvemenb even of beautiful Auckland." What bhese social sores are the "Post" does nob condescend to say. Going inta statistics, ib alleges that during bhe whole of 1891 and the firsb quarber of 1892 only bwenby-eight deaths from typhoid took place in Wellington, while Auckland, wibh three thousand less population, had bhirteen deaths from a like cause in the same period.
