AUCKLAND LIBERAL ASSOCIATION.

The first monthly meeting of the above Association was held ab Robson's Rooms lasb evening. There was a fairly good abtendance and numerous apologies were received for non-abtendance. Mr Beehan presided, and after the usual routine business, a paper was read by Mr Napier, in which thab genbleman stronglj advocated the imposition of a land tax. The paper was freely criticised by Messrs Brabazon, Baird, Matthews, Martin, Adams, Dignan, and others. At the next meeting the proceedings will be opened by the Liberal Orchestral Band, and during tho evening selections will be rendered. The programme for next meeting will be arranged by the executive, and will be advertised in the daily papers. The Auckland Liberal Association, though only a month in existence, numbers over fifty members. Before the proceedings closed lasb evening, a nearby vote of bhanks was passed to Mr R. J. Duncan for the active interest he has always-.-taken in matters affecting the good of the Association.
