OTAGO CENTRAL RAILWAY.
The Cabinet meet to-day to consider the Otago Central Railway matter. They will probably* propose that the line be pushed onto iVliddlemarchwith all due expedition (provision being made for that purpose out of loan), and leave the House to determine whether the line should be carried to Eveburn, Kyeburn, or to what point. Ministers will then during the recess formulate some scheme for the construction of the railway from Middlemarch, either on the land grant system or by reserving lands
THE MIDLAND BAIL\VA\
Ministers cabled Home their ultimatum yesterday regarding the Midland Railway difficulty. The matter at issue deals with running powers. A difficulty has been experienced in conducting negotiations by cable.
